The PAIMI (Protection and Advocacy for Individuals with Mental Illness) program is guided by the PAIMI Advisory Council, which provides input to Disability Rights Vermont on the policies and priorities needed to protect and advocate for the rights of individuals with mental health needs.
The PAIMI Advisory Council is composed of a diverse group of individuals, with at least 60% being primary mental health consumers. The chairperson must be someone who has received, or is currently receiving, mental health services—or a family member of someone who has. Other members include family members of individuals with mental health conditions, attorneys, mental health professionals, service providers, and members of the general public who have knowledge and experience related to mental health.
