Disability Rights Vermont (DRVT) is seeking a passionate and dedicated individual to join our team as a full-time advocate, working under the supervision of an attorney. The role focuses on assisting individuals with disabilities, protecting their rights, and ensuring access to necessary services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct outreach to psychiatric facilities, treatment settings, and correctional institutions.
- Investigate allegations of abuse, neglect, and serious rights violations.
- Advocate for individual clients as well as systemic changes in the community and through legislative efforts.
- Support victims of crime who have disabilities.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Personal or professional experience working with persons with disabilities is highly valued.
- Strong communication, writing, and organizational skills are essential.
- Candidates with post-secondary education and/or 2-5 years of relevant work experience are strongly encouraged to apply.
